Canadians for Better Education

CABEDU exists to recognize and unite the Canadian businesses and organizations that fund sustainable, merit-based education.

We believe the strongest societies were built by those who invested in the next generation. CABEDU is that investment, made structural: a national alliance of principled patrons who direct resources toward Canada’s most exceptional students and most rigorous institutions — transparently, competitively, and on merit.

Charity, poorly aimed, is a waste of principled money. We do not run raffles, distribute prizes for attention, or stage suffering for donations. We identify real potential, verify it through a selection council of educators and industry leaders, and fund it in ways that make every patron proud to be named alongside the work.

In return, the Alliance quietly returns value to the businesses that build it: recognition of institutional standing, access to a trusted network of fellow patrons, and a directory of reciprocal corporate advantages — not as payment, but as acknowledgment of shared commitment.

The name.

CABEDU is Canadians for Better Education — Ca.B.Edu, shortened into one word. That is the name at the front, and that is what we are here to do.

For those who want the fuller story, the sound also carries an echo of the Arabic root kabad: the idea of choosing difficulty for a greater purpose, and of what a parent is willing to bear for a child. The Quranic verse “And [I swear by] the father and that which he begot; indeed, We created man in kabad” is read by many as both consolation and call — that the work of care involves sacrifice, and that the sacrifice is worth it.

We leave deeper reflection to scholars and to the privacy of faith. The name remains, in any language, an invitation to invest in a better future for our children. On the surface, an acronym. Underneath, a calling. We keep both.

CABEDU is a project of the Siraj Institute Charitable Foundation, founded for the purpose of building worthy leaders for the Ummah.

Siraj is built by Muslims who believe that being Muslim naturally means taking responsibility for the welfare of the earth, everyone that lives on it, and everything that has been stored in it. We are not just aiming to build leaders for the Muslim community. We strive to nurture the best Muslim leaders of the Ummah so they can lead the world.

We say this plainly, because vagueness has never produced great institutions. Our scholarship, our standards, and our stewardship are grounded in a tradition that takes learning to be sacred and leadership to be a trust. And precisely because it is that tradition, our work reaches outward. A true Muslim leader cares to bring goodness to all of humanity — regardless of race, sex, religion, residency status, or political affiliation. That principle is not decoration on our mission statement; it is the mission.
